CADETS FROM DUNTROON.
SIX IMPERIAL COMMISSIONS.
ALTERNATIVE OFFER TO OTHERS.
The position regarding military cadets from New Zealand who have just com'pleted or are completing their course at ihe Dnntroon Military College, Australia, nas explained yesterday by prominent Auckland military officers. Previously, cadets from New Zealand have entered Duntroon with the Government promise that they would be given posts on the New Zealand Staff Corps on completion of their training. Owing to the scheme (■i retrenchment, however, this promise cannot now be carried out. It is understood, neverthfless, that six New Zealand cadets, one of whom is an Aucklander, are to be offered positions in the Imperial Army, instead of positions on the New Zealand staff. These cadets have just finished their college course. To those cadets now in training, the Government has put alternative proposals. Taey can either stiy at the college, paying their lees, or return at once to Sew Zealand at the Government's expense. It is pointed out by the local defence authorities that the Duntroon training reaches a very high educational status, and would fit a cadet to take any good position in civil life.
