Hopkinson, resulted :— J. Sutton (Labour) . . 14,662 Flanagan (Coal.-Unionist) 11,038 Labour majority , .. 3,624 The poll in the Clayton division at the general election in December, 1918, was: Dr. E. Hopkinson (Unionist) 12,285 J. Sutton (Labour) . . .. 7,054
