AEROPLANE PROM SOUTH.
ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND.
PROPOSED WELLINGTON SERVICE.
An Avro aeroplane, belonging to the New Zoaland Aero Transport Company, arrived in Auckland yesterday afternoon at 2.30 from Elthara, a distance of 245 miles. The machine left Eltham at 11 a.m. and reached Hamilton at 1.15 p.m., averaging a speed of 70 miles an hour for the whole trip. Captain J. C. Mercer was the pilot, and he was accompanied by Mrs. Mercer and Mr. A. J. Salter. The aeroplane, which came originally from Timaru, is fitted with a limousine top, enabling the passengers to sit in comfort without annoyance from (he wind. In connection with the proposed amalgamation of the company with the Auckland Sorvice Aero Club, it is hoped to run an aeroplane service from Auckland to Wellineton. The machine which arrived yesterday has been charting the proposed route to Wellington, besides doing other survey work. The aeroplane will remain in Auckland for some time.
