DISPUTE IN MELBOURNE.

Australian and N.Z, Cable Association. (Eecd. 1.5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 16.

Eight hundred slaughtermen, labourers and carters have struck work in support of the Newmarket drovers, thereby rendering idle the Metropolitan abattoirs and freezing works. A number of employers who were formerly tradesmen slaughtered their own stock to-dav. If the trouble is not settled it may develop to such an extent that all meat will bo 'declared "black." There is barely two days' supply in tho abattoirs and chilling chambers.
