STOCKS AND SHAKES.
Investment stocks and Government loan issues were again in strong demand on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday. War Loans, 1938, changed hands at £88 7s 6d, more being asked for at £88 ss. Soldiers' Loan (inscribed stock) had sale at £94 12s 6d and £94 10s, holders closing at £94 15s, buyers at £94 ss. War Loans, 1939, and Inscribed Stock, 1938 and 1939, were looked for at £88. In banks Australasias had demand at £11 Is, seller s £11 ss, Nationals were offered at £5 14s, buyers £5 12s, For New South Wales buyers advanced offers to £35 15s, but no sellers were quoting. New Zealands sold at 48s. Union of Australia had buyers at £11 lis, sellers £11 14s. In insurances South British changed hands at 335, sellers closing at 33s 3d, buyers at 32s 6d. New Zealands were wanted at 275, sellers 27s 6d. In gas Aucklands (paid up) sold freely at 20s 9d, with buyers left at that price, sellers closing at 2ls 3d. Contributing issue sold at 16s 9d, late sellers 17s, and buyers 16s 3d. In shipping Devonport Ferry sold at 21s. In mining lines Grand Junctions sold at 6s 9d, more being wanted at 6s 7d, sellers 7s. Waihis at '19s were looked for at 18s.
