NURSERYMEN'S DISPUTE.
CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS.
The nurserymen's and landscape gardeners' dispute was considered at a sitting of the Conciliation Council yesterday. The conciliation commissioner, Mr. T. Harle Giles, presided. The assessors for the employers were Messrs. D. Hay, O. Mackay, and W. S. Johnston, with Mr. S E 'Wright as advocate, and for the union. Messrs. T. H. Hulme, R. 0. Boyd, and A. O'Neill. The union claimed an increase of wages ind a 44-hour week instead of the present 48.hour week, while tho employers coun-ter-claimed for a decrease in wages, a 48-hour week, and minor alterations. The conference sat all day, dealing exhaustively with the points at issue, and very satisfactory progress was made further discussion was adjourned until ten o'clock this morning.
