WHAKATANE SHOW.
PROSPERITY OF DISTRICT. FINE CATTLE DISPLAY. [BI THLEGRAPD. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TANEATUA, Wednesday. The fifteenth annual show of the Whakatane Agricultural and Pastoral Associa, tion was held to-day on the showgrounds, Taneatua, in fine weather with a record attendance and a. splendid range of exhibits. Visitors began to arrive early from every part of the Bay of Plenty, the accumulation of valuable motor-cars being an exhibit in itself and aJi advertisement for the prosperity of the bay.
The cattle exhibits showed a marked improvement on previous years with regard to quality, and it is very evident that the farmers of this district realise that money expended on high-grade stock is well invested. While journeying out to the grounds tho visitor was particularly struck with the abundance of feed, many paddocks being fit to cut for hay for the second time this season. Clover over a | loot high was showing in some localities j where the first cut had just been stacked and thatched. Given a fair market the land has not been too highly bought, and the returns this season will probably constitute a record por cow for the district. The climate is ideal and the competition of these annual shows will help to improve tho herds, as evidenced in tJie quality of the stock shown to-day, The prize list is as follows
