COOPERATIVE MARKETING.

CONFERENCE TO BE HELD.

The provincial executive of the Farmers' Union mot yesterday. The president, Mr. R. D. Duxfield, occupied the A remit was received from the Morrinsvillo branch urging that the executive endeavour to arrange a conference of delegates from all co-operative dairy companies in the Dominion with the object of establishing a co-operative scheme of marketing the dairy produce of the Dominion. The chairman said it would be the business of the Dominion executive to arrange t'uch a conference. It was decided to communicate with the dairy companies of the Auckland district and endeavour to arrange a provincial conference to discuss the proposal. A suggestion by the Mornnsville branch urging the desirability of taking action to formulate a scheme for improving dairy herds was discussed. It was decided that th e executive frame a remit on the matter to be discussed at the next provincial conference of the union. The suggestion that the railways of the Dominion be removed from Governmont control, which bad been discussed at last, meeting -of the executive and referred to the branches, was the subject of a letter from the Otorohanga branch. The letter stated that the branch supported the principle of non-political control of the railways but did not apree with the details relating to the establishment of a board of control. The nresident explained that the executive had not recommended the establishment of a board. The branches wore merely being circularised regarding the main priaeiple involved. Other replies from the branches would come to hand shortly. v The Dominion secretary wrote stating that as nothing was being done by the Government in regard to the destruction of hawthorn hedges the question of making recommendations on the matter was being held in abcyacce. The letter added that remits from the executive relating to the branding of hides, cattle tick, and other matters had been referred to the DirectorGeneral of Agriculture, Dr. C. J. Reakcs. The necessity of having further facilities provided for handling milk cans at Waihi railway station was emphasised in a letter from the Waihi branch. It was decided to interview the railway traffic manager on the matter.
