TOUR OF THE DOMINION.
ARRIVAL NEXT SEASON,
[by telegraph.-press association*.]
CHRISTCHCRCH. Monday.
Referring to the Australian Press cablegrams in regard to A. C. MacLaren's cricket team, Mr. J. F. Peake, secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Council, stated that Mr. MacLaren was bringing hie team out at the invitation of the council. The council had made all arrangements with Mr. MacLaren who undertook to bring an amateur team out to Now Zealand during the 1922-23 season equally as strong as the English team that had defeated the Australians in England last year. Mr. MacLaren had written asking if he could make arrangements to play a few matches in Australia before arriving in New Zealand and the council had agreed to this course being adopted. The various Australian Cricket Associations were probably being advised by mail of Mr. MacLaren's intentions, and this explained why the Western Australian Association had received word and not the New South Wales Association.
The New Zealand Council was in communication with the Australian Board of Control regarding the visit, he added, but no reply had yei been received from that body. ' , With reference to the statement that it was likely that some members of the Australian eleven would visit New Zealand Mr. Peake said nnthing defiliite had been decided upon, but the whole matter would be discussed by the Management Committee this week.
