Thero was good inquiry for tho chief investment stocks on tho Auckland sharemarket yesterday. Government loans had fust-ained demand, with few sellers. Soldiers' Loan (bonds, and inscribed stock) bad buyers at £94 ss, with Belters of the latter at £94 15s. Fnr War Loan, 1930, buyers offered £91; for 1938 issue, £87 i 17s 6d; and for 1939 issue, £87 10s. For Inscribed Stock, 1938, buyers quoted £88. holders asking £88 10s. Inscribed Stock. 1939, had demand a,t £87 10s. In banks Australasias- had buyers at £10 18s 6d, sellers £11 Ss. For New South Wale* £35 5s was offered, sellers £36. New Zealands sold at 48s, sellers closing at 48s 9d, buyers at 47s 9d. Tn insurances Now Zealands changed hands at 27s and 26s 9d, late buyers 26s 9d. sellers 27s 3d South British at 33s 6d had buyers at 32s 6d. Standards were wanted at sb. and Nationals were offered at 60s. In gas Auckland (paid up) sold at 20s 9d. In shipping severa.l parcels of Nurthern Steams (paid up) were disposed of at 112s 8d to 12s 9d. In miscellaneous lines j Wilsons Cements were done at 15s. ]i\ I mining Waihis had sale at 18s bd, sellers | closing at 18s 9d, buyers at 18s 3d. i Grand Junctions changed hands ,it 6s 9d. j with lato sellers at 6s lid, and buyers at ; 6s 6d.
The following sales took place:—Bank of New Zealand, 48s; New Zealand In surance, 275, 26s 9d; Auckland Gas (paid up), 20s 9d; Northern Steamship (paid up), 12s Bd, 12s 9d: Wilsons Cement, 15s; Waihi, 18s 6d; Waihi Grand Junction, 6s 9d.
