Since, however, 18 months or two years' supply of spirits were released from "bond prior to the introduction ot the Tariff Bill very ltttle tevenuo from spirits can bo expected for some months, and it is hardly considered likely that the average for Uie first three quarters will bo realised. For the past calendar year tho customs revenue totalled £6,728,956 against £8,053,342 for 1920, £4.530,094 for 1919, and £3,600.653 for 1918. Tho beer duty revenue to date is £77,000 below ttie estimate for tho nine months. Owing, however, to tho practical doubling of the duty, the revenue in November and December last was roughly £50,000 per month, as against an average of aboil £25.000 a month in tho early part -.1 the year. For the calendar year 1921 t tor duty yielded £393,955 compared with £363,596 for 1920 and £337,811 for 1919. .
