PRIMARY SCHOOLS V. GRAMMAR. VICTORY FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS. The annual matoh between the Primary Softools representatives and the Grammar School juniors, played at Eden Park, resulted in a win for Primary Schools by an innings .and 120 runs. Primary Schools opened on softened by recent rains, and by good hatting compiled 266 runs for the first innings. Commons, the promising schoolboy cricketer, was the principal contributor, playing a splendid innings for 86 without giving a chance,. Lovegrove batted well for 40, and other good performances were Simpson (37), Butler (30) and Hardley (29),
Grammar juniors made a poor showing in the first innings, and the team was dismissed tor 70 rune, of which total Freeman (19) was the only batsman to reach double figures, hollowing on for the second innings the batting of Grammar juniors showed a slight improvement, threo batsmen on this occasion reaching double figures, Horsley (17), .Costello (18) and Dunningham (10). PRIMARY. SCHOOLS COMPETITION.
MOUNT EDEN V. VERMONT STREET. The matoh botween Mount Eden and Vermont Street in the A grade section of the primary schools competition, was played at Eden Park yesterday. In the first innings Mount Eden scored 24 (Kayes 10). Bowline for Vermont Street Denize took five wickets for 15 runs, Commons five for 6, including the hat trick." Vermont Street compiled 132 for tho loss of six wickets (Commons 67, Smith 23. Denize 11). Vermont Street won by four wickets and 108 runs, and won the A grade championship.

[Br TELBGBAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH. Thursday. Considerable interest was taken in the first match played this .season for the Heathcole Williams Shield between Palmerston North High School (holders) and Napier Boys High School (ohallengers.). Poor hatting and a good display of fielding by both teams characterised the first day's play. Palmerston North batted first and complied 101, to which Napier replied witi 67. Ihe holders in their second attempt have lost two wickets for 47 runs.
