SEASONABLE DISPLAYS

GOODS OF ALL_ DESCRIPTIONS GREAT VARIETY OF NOVELTIES WHERE TO MAKE PURCHASES The approach of the Christmas holidays is indicated by the great display of seasonable goods in the retail shops in both the city and suburbs, which have been arranged in readiness for thoso who derive much pleasure from Christmas shopping. There is every indication that a record business period is anticipated by tradesmen between now and the end of next week. Judging from the booking of accommodation that has taken place within the last fortnight, the number of visitors to Auckland during the festive season will be considerable, and these, with the holiday spirit upon them, and the local residents, should keep the business people going at high pressure. The windows of the various shops have a most attractive appear- ' ance, the result of the window-dressers' skill in many instances being really wonderful. Surrounded by a variety of colouring are displayed the latest designs and makes of female and men's clothing, and in all windows the array of articles too numerous to mention compels attention. This year a feature has been made of goods suitable for Christmas and New Year presents for young and old. The range of selection in each instance is so wide and tne quality of the goods of such a high standard as to arrest the .attention of those in quest of bargains. The tradesmen have surpassed all previous efforts in their desire to supply the wants of customers, and the result is a truly striking display. In the following columns, descriptive of businesses which citizens and visitors will find it to fiieli- advantage to inspect, will be found mentioned the shops where not only holiday requirements but also those for everyday use can ba obtained.
