"WONDERFUL SPORT."

«• „ . TROUT AT ROTORUA. AMERICAN ANGLER'S PRAISE "Wonderful sport!" In these words Mr. J. H. Troy, an enthusiastic American angler, now in Auckland, sums up "his experience during a few days' fishing at Rotorua. Mr. Troy, who hails from Now Rochelle, a suburb of New York, arrived in Auckland by the Niagara on December 2, and spent last week in tho Hot Lakes district. " I had heard a lot about your trout fishing before coming here," he said yesterday, " and I came to see for myself. I have been agreeably surprised. I have fished all over the United States, the West Indies, Panama, and Vancouver, as well as making 27 round trips to Europo, and all I can say is that I never saw trout fishing like that at Rotorua." Mr. Troy fished in Lake Rotorua and in several of the adjacent streams, but did not have time to extend his visit to Taupo. He may visit the latter fishing resort on his next trip, as he does not intend that th e present visit—his first toNew Zealand—shall be his last. "In writing to some friends in the States," lie remarked, " T informed them that ws •went out fly-fishing on Lake Rotorua-in a small row boat, and took a power scow to bring our fish back in." The he added, were all in excellent condition, and the average weight of one day's catch of some 21 fish was about 3£lb.
