Miniitter announced in th« House of Representatives this afternoon that be estimated there would still be a fortnight's work to do. when Christmas arrived,, and that it would be necessary -to prolong the session into the New Year. There were a considerable number of questions asked and roporls of Select Coinmittees 'were discussed. The Hospitals Amendment Bill, an important measure, was introduced by Vice-Regal Message, while two v other Government Bills, .the Public Contracts and Local Bodies' Con-•tractors-.Amendment Bill and tfae Grey Collection Exchange Bill were read a first time.In the evening the Public Holidays Amendment Bill was read a second time, and the second reading debate on the Aid to Public Works and Land .Settlement Bill was commenced. The discussion continued until a late how. when the second read, ing was - carried. The Bill was put through Committee without amendment and passed, the House rising at 12.30 a.m. The legislative Council met in the afternoon, when it dealt with the Cu> toms Amondraent Bill, and referred sev. eral other measures to Select Committees,
