N.S.W. MINISTRY RESIGNS.
PREMIER AND GOVERNOR. ADVICE NOT ACCEPTED. A LABOUR SPEAKER. By Telegraph—Press Association.— Copyright. (Received 12.5.*.m.> A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Bee. 13 Mr. Simon Hickey, Labour member for Botany, was elected Speaker of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly today, thereby placing the Government in a minority, the state of the parties now being:—Government, 44; Opposition, 45. After Mr. Hickey had been elected Speaker the Ascembly adjourned until ,8 o'clock. When it reassembled, the Premier, Mr. J. Dooley, stated that he had tendered certain advice to tho Governor which had! not been accepted. Mr. Dooley therefore tendered his resignation and advised the Governor to send for Sir George Fuller, the Leader of the Opposition. The House then adjourned until Wednesday. It is believed that Sir George Fuller will accept; the Governor's commission to form a Ministry, and the Speaker will {hen resign. As it is improbable that any Coalition Government will be able to, secure a Speaker from the. Labour Party •ir George Fuller will be in the same position as Mr. Dooley, and will ask the Governor for a dissolution. Earlier to-day it was reported that the Premier had a long interview with the Governor, who refused a request to prorogue Parliament for a month. It was then stated that the leadership of the Labour .Party, as well as thel fate of the Government, was involved, and the Cabinet was considering the question of Mr. Dooly's appointment to the AgentGeneralship.
