THE ART GALLERY.
Sir,—ln Friday's Riaim a, correspondeot complained: that he was not allowedto carry his walking stick in the. Art Gallery, and suggested that the management should provide numbered checks. Hia idea is a good one, but he must not blame. the attendants. las a. lame man have, always/found them willing, to stretch the' necessary poiut and allow me to retain ray stick. The attendants are: invariably courteous and zealous, which, is mere than can be said for a management which allows numbers of exquisitely carved: Japanese ivories to remain stacked one on top of another in glass-topped, cases*, in which they can only be looked'down upon and so.'not properlv seen. These:beautiful, spec'mens of Oriental art have been in: this philistinio order for months; Ten minutes-would suffice, for arranging, them, even if a better case for displaying could not be financed. Arc .Loves.
