Saturday afternoon tor keel and centreooatd i ; yachts and a.so harbour races for open boats. 1. A strong breeze from the south-south-west I prevailed throughout the afternoon, enabling 7. the yachts competing in the cruising race, i {l to reach their destination before 5.30 p.m. ( |" During the harucur races, two boats, the I [' t lift, "flattie" Early Dawn, and the 13-footer , Ara capsized, the crews of both being picxed ["• up by launches which were watching the I rates. In the cruising race the 22-fcoter Lucille capsized and sank off Brown's Island", her crew being rescued by the yacht Hilda! In the same race one ot the crew of the pi 20-footer YVayv.ard fell overboard at lookout 1 J, Point, Waineiie, but was soon picked tip H again. p e The most important fixture was tha race i 's fcr iho lilt, one-design boats. This event, i however, was robbed of a great deal }j I i interest owing to the owners of the Desert I j Gold deciding not to nice- The winner, Joan, | ?
