AVONDALE ROAD BOARD.
I The Avondale Road Board met last week, I Mr. W.-J. Tait presiding over a full attendance, v A letter was received from the district medical officer of health, Dr. T. J. Hughes, inquiring as to the position in .regard to the drainage scheme and when it was'propoßed to go on with the work.' It Waa resolved that a special, meeting'be held on Tuesday to consider drainage matters. Several letters, wdro received from the health officer regarding the unsanitary condition of certain pig farms. Theße matters will receive immediate attention. . A request fi»m a property owner in Avondale South to out up an acre of land into j three sections, the frontage of each to be 1 only 44ft.. was not agreed to, the by-laws stipulating a frontage of 60ft. as a minimum, Notification was recoived from the Bank of New Zealand that a branch of the bank would bo established in Avondale. For the , present it would bo opened on two halfdays per week, It was resolved to set apart one day for a "clean-up" campaign, carts -being made available for the roniova) of refuse.
