CASE OF H. P. MORTENSON. BOMBARDED WITH PETITIONS A number of bankruptcy matters were dealt with by Mr. Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court yesterday. " There are three other petitions against this debtor," said Mr. Inder, who appeared in support of an application by Barraud and Abraham, Ltd., that Hans Peter Mortenson should be adjudicated bankrupt. It was stated the company had obtained judgment against Mortenson for £523. In reply to-the Judge, the bankrupt said his total debts amounted to £1400 or £1500, and ho hoped shortly to receive about £3000. Cross-examined, he admitted he had recently settled seven or eight bankruptcy petitions. His Honor, after flaying that the debtor seemed to be bombarded all round with petitions, adjourned the petition for 10 days. Ho informed the bankrupt that he must try to settle the claim within that period, or he would be adjudicated bankrupt. Two other petitions against Mortenson, and one against his wife, "were adjourned until February. Tho following were adjudicated bankrupts:—William Craig Walker, Alexander i Craig Walker, and Albert Edward Anthony Field. Discharges were granted to Reginald Percy Newby, and Robert H. Kidd (suspended for three months).
