Wednesday. ; The Mayor, Mr. Donaldson, who visited i Auckland last week on matters concerned I with the purchase of Waihi beach pro- > perty, returned last evening. An interview with the owners' representatives, Messrs. J. S. Dickson* M.P., and W. Warnock, took place with the object'of endeavouring to arrive at a basis of settle--1 ment regarding the acquisition of the pro--1 perty for camping purposes at £4000. No I compromise could be reached by the parties* which presumably means that the • matter will now ba adjusted by the Com-, , pensatioii Court. At the Waihi Hospital Board's last meeting the secretary reported having ! compiled a complete list of all outstanding [ accounts owing to the board up to the end • of October. The total sum amounted to £1384. The board reviewed the list at I great length, and members generally e*; ■ pressed surprise at so many well-known ' people having left their acooutt unpaid so 1 long. It was mentioned that many people | appeared to regard their responsibilities . to the Hospital Board ,very lightly, while • others whose financial standing was not [ of the best made sacrifices to pay what thev owed. The board .decided that in fairness to all notices should be sent re--1 questing that payment of arrears be made by the end of the present year. failing which it was resolved that legal j steps be taken to recover sam.e.
