REFUSES TO RULE.
RAJAH AND WHITE WIFE.
TROUBLE OVER SUCCESSION. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Nov. 16. Difficulties in which love and romance play a prominent part have arisen between the Rajah of Pudukota and his subjects. The Rajah married an Australian lady and the couplo aro devotedly attached to one another and to their son. Both the Rajah and his wife wero received at the King-Emperor's Court, but whilo this recognition was accorded his wife, the Government of India refuses to recognise the son as heir to tho throne on tho ground that only a full-blooded Indian can succeed. The Rajah Uiereforo refuses to return to rule his State, despite tho entreaties of his subjects, who aro presenting a memorial to the Secretary of State for India, the Viceroy, and tho Government of India. Thero is some talk of sending a deputation of his subjects to Euror.o to urge the Rajah to return. In tho event of the Rajah refusing it is probable the Government will appoint a regent.
