THE STEAMER BROXTON.

FORMATION OF COMPANY.

GOVERNMENT REFUSES OFFER. [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Monday. The purchasers of the American steamer Broxton, not having received acceptance of the offer made by them to sell the ship to the Government, have proceeded with the formation of a company to control the vessel. It is proposed to form a company with a capital of £14,000. Provisional directors have been appointed. A master for the vessel has been engaged, and the company has received five separate offers of charters. The probability is the vessel will go into the overseas trade. '

The officers and crew of the Broxton have lodged claims totalling nearly £3000 for wages, etc. The case will be heard to-morrow by the Supreme Court in its Admiralty jurisdiction.
