According to a statement to the nnl! Mr. Larsen was preparing his tea A ■■' about 5.50 p.m., when a ma, i have been under the influence of l] ai entered the house and started quarrell" ' with him. On being advised to lie Ay2? s on a bed and sober up. the man took off his coat and sKirt and attacked Mr La. sen, kicking him in the eye. The two men strugsled, and Mr r sen succeeded in lcking himself in «." kitchen. The kitchen c'i>or bed oU panels, and the intruder is reported to have smashed these and. in his kenzv thrust his head and arms through to el at Mr. Larsen. He. succeeded, and further struggle occurred.
At this stage Serceant Fitzgerald M d Constable Watkins arrived, and a desperate struggle took place before ft. man was overpowered. He was so violent that besides being handcuffed, his leo* had to be roped to secure b:rn properly When this had been done the man ooj. lapsed, and was taken to the hospital {j, an unconscious condition. He had fonght and struggled among the broken with the result that hi 3 head, arms and body were a mass of deep cuts, and fca was bleeding freely.
