Murray's letter in the Eebalß% of October 5. Mr. Cornish writes thai*;-;, when the Weathersfield was wrecked **M the mouth of the Otaki River she was.;| stranded for three vears, and was chased by the late Mr. T. G. and Mr. J. Saunders. With the assistance,-, oi spring tides the vessel was worked ob ; ; the beach and towed to Wellington. Sh|twas refitted and loaded with tallow and flax and sent to London under coinmaw ■- of Captain Holcroft. The WeathersSeW;§• made the voyage to London safely, &&):■; returned to Wellington. When entering' Cook Strait she experienced stormy .' ther, and was so badly damaged that so* - was not expected to make port.
