VITAL STATISTICS.

ALL-ROUND DECREASE. FIGURES FOR NINE MONTHS. The' vital' statistics for the Auckland district for September show substantial reductions over those for - the corresponding month of last year,' particularly with regard to .the number of, births. ' .The figures for last month Births, 1 248; deaths, 136 j and marriages, 156. Those for September, 1920, were 272, 156, and 159 respectively. The reductions shown by the comparison are 24, 20, and 3."' Of last month's marriages 38 were performed by the registrar, as compared with 37 in September, 1920. ~" ',/ •; The , total returns for the quarterly period just ended (July to September) show a' decrease of 108 in births, 41 .in deaths,-and 61 in marriages, compared with tho corresponding period ,of 1920.
