Jasper Calder has recovered from his- recent operation, and wilt resume his duties at the Auckland City •Mission to-morrow night. Mr. T. Harle Giles, conciliation commissioner, will leave for Hamilton to-day in order to presiMe at two conciliation councils. He is expected to return on Thursday. Mr. W. Coltman. vice-president of tha Dominion Bowling Association, left by the mid-day express yesterday for Dunedin to attend the annual meeting of the council, which opens on Wednesday.
The Rev. A. W. Brough, who is making his third visit to Auckland as a deputation from the London Missionary Socity, will arrive from Sydney by the Maheno on Monday. Mr. Brough has been a resident of Southern India for 27 years. Mr. R. W. Westoby has been appointed manager of the Ashburton branch of the Bank of New Zealand. Mr. Westoby has been on the relieving staff for several years, and, acting in that capacity, was stationed at Ashburton as relieving manager last year. Mr. A- M. Mowlem, S.M., who ha* been relieving magistrate in Taraaaki lias been appointed permanently to the Taranaki district. He will visit Dunedin to arrange his private affairs, and will he absent for about 10 days. Darin*' his absence Mr. H. W. Bundle, of Auckland, who left for New Plymouth on Tuesday, will preside over Magistrate's Court sit*tings in the Taranaki district. Mr. P. C. Garnham, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, Hamilton, has received notice of his transfer to the inspector's department of the bank in Wellington. Mr. Garnham established t'e business of the bank in Hamilton in 1911, and has been in charge of the business since fiat date. He will leave for Wellington shortly. Mr. R. Gay, of Wellington, is to succeed Mr. fJamham. Sir Thomas Wright Parkinson, th« well-known London surgeon, is a parssnger to New Zealand by the Reamers, which is due at the end of this ntonfe. He is the third son of the late Mr. T. H. Parkinson, of Kaituna, Canterbury, • and received his early education in Christchurch. He went to Edinburgh University in 1886, and graduated M.B. CM., in 1890, MJD. and D.P.H. in 189SV with honours in anatomy, zoology, medicine,, and surgery. Since 1900 he has been practising in London. He was physician, to the late Marquis of Milford Haven.
