The Department of Labour has issued statistics dealing with 65 industrial centres, showing that unemployment has increased more than 1 per cent, over that of June, and more than 7 per cent, since February. Harvest time had improved conditions in some localities. Textile and railroad work also were better, but the metal trades suffered greatly.
