FUTURE OF ULSTER.

PLEDGE BY BRITISH M.P.'S. LIBERTY TO BE UPHELD. GIFT TO SIR J. CRAIG. By Telegraph—Press .Association—Copyright. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Aug. 3. Mr. Austen Chamberlain, in presenting Sir James Craig and his wife with gifts of plate from 300 members of the House of Commons, in recognition of Sir James' attainment of the Ulster Premiership, said that so far as the Imperial Parliament was concerned it would uphold Ulster's liberty, and fcould second to the best of its power every effort of Sir James Craig in the interests of the peace and prosperity of Ireland, North or South, of whatever class or creed. Lord Birkenhead, Lord Chancellor, referring to pe-war controversies, declared that there was nothing he then did and little he said which he would not repeat if the risks to Ulster were repeated. Sir James Craig, replying, said that whatever side others might take, he refused ever to take any except that of Great Britain and the Empire.
