CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE.

The Auckland district Women's Christian Temperance Union met on Wednesday afternoon, in the headquarters. Mrs. J. Cook presided over a good attendance. The president welcomed Mrs. Mays, of Kansas mother of the secretary to the United States Consul-General, and also Sister Adey, who recently arrived from Me'.bourne. Mrs. J. J. Macky gave an address on her work among the sailors who visit the port. A vote of sincere sympathy was passed by the executive to the relatives of the late Mrs. A. R. Atkinson. Her death, it was stated, would be an irreparable loss to the work throughout the Dominion.
