S. AUSTRALIAN DEFICIT.
ESTIMATED AT £1,108,§0i. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 12.40 a-m.) ADELAIDE. July 27. In the Legislative Assembly the Premier said that if the Government were forced by the Wages Board to pay marginal increases in connection with the living wage hundreds of men would have to be put off. If that were not done, and no increased taxation Were imposed, the deficit at the end of the present financial year would amount to £1,108,000. Mr. Birrell gave notice of a motion in favour of a scheme of motherhood endowment.
