THE UNEMPLOYED.
POSITION iN AUCKLAND.
Seven men on the unemployed register at the Government Labour Bureau ■were despatched yesterday to Put-arum, and it isi intended to send nine to Te Awamutu this morning. Twelve new applications were received yesterday by the Labour Bureau, and three men -were placed in private employment. Several applications were also received by the Trades Hail office, and one of the men who was formerly sleeping out at night, and who was placed in private employment by the Labour Department, called in to express satisfaction with his job.
SITUATION IN WELLINGTON. [BT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Tuesday.
The unemployed in Wellington are not increasing very greatly, judging by last week's figures. Fifty-five men were engaged at the employment bureau during the week, the majority * being sent to public works in different parts of the district. At the end of the week there were on the books 201 men fitted for heavy work, and 59 fitted for light work.
