NORTHCOTE BOROUGH.
The Northcote Borough Council met last evening. l There were present. The Mayor, Mr. W. E. Richardson. Messrs. J. B. Tonar A. Parrish. A. Hurley. O. R. Brinsden W H. Barnes. A. W. Smith. K. Smith, W c' Smith, and W. K. A. Stewart. The Mayor welcomed the members of the council. The waterworks engineer reported' that during May 1,920,000 gallons of water had been supplied to Takapuna Borough, and ; 1,248,000 gallons used in Northcote. The level of Lake Takapuna was Bft. lin. above sea level at the end of the month. It was decided to repair Valley Road foot- ■ path for the convenience of school children using thie as a " short cut " from Birkeni head. The building inspector reported that permits for new buildings, of an estimated ' total value of £3125. had been issued. In addition, \ the council granted permits ■ for [ another .seven dwellings. [ The advisability of installing additional machinery to the waterworks pumping plant • mi * e renewal of the contract for the i tV Borough supply, were referred to , the Waterworks Committee for a report. Mr. H. W. Wilson was appointed borough | valuer. ' It was resolved to acquaint the Birkenheal [ and Northcote Gas Company with the couat oil's dissatisfaction with several defective street lamps, and to -request repairs forth- . with, failing which the council would! decline ' all lai sPs which could not be lit. . The Takapuna Borough Council intimated U 8 ? nte ntion' of co-operating with the other North Shore boroughs in forming an .electric power board.
