INTEREST ON MORTGAGES.

o SAVINGS BANK INCREASE. RAISED BY HALF PER CENT. The rate of interest' charged on mortgages held by the Auckland Savings Bank, which is now 6 per cent, will be raised to 63 per cent as from October 1. This increase wa,s decided upon by the trustees of the bank at their last meeting, and the mortgagors have been notified accordingly. The interest charged on all new loans from the present date will be 64 per cent, but the increase in regard to existing mortgages will not take effect until October.
