AVONDALE ROAD BOARD.
Tho first meeting of the newlv-eiectel Avondale Road Board was held on Wednesday. There were present, Messrs. T. Boe, J. Fleming, W. J. Tait, D. Wilson, and T. H. Spargo. Mr. Tait was elected chairman. Mr. Izard, hon. secretary of the Henderson Fruitgrowers' Association, wrote asking it the- board would declare hawthorn a noxious weed. It was also reauested that the board. rer-aiv© a deputation from the association to discuss the matter. The board resolved to hear a deputation at their next meeting. The b'oard's engineer forwarded plans and specifications of the proposed water reticulation scheme, and stating 'that the matter was advanced sufficiently to - : call for tenders. The chairman said that in view of the uncertainty aa to when the money -cmild be available from the Government, it -would, in hs opinion, be advisable not to proceed farther with the preliminaries in the meantime- It was resolved that a special meeting of the board be held to consider the The supervisor'n report stated tha-t at Isaat 4000 or 5000 yards of metal would be required very shortly to put the main roads in proper order. He reoommeaded that the board should purchase a stone crusher and procure a road roller and tar sprayer as the most economical way of making good roads. ___^____^_^__
