LONG STAY IN PORT ENDED.
SCHOONER CECILIA SUDDEN. The four-masted schooner Cecilia Sudden, uhich put into Auckland in distress on March 9, left for Sydney on Saturday. This vesed was bound from Newcastle with 845 tons of coal for Callao, on the west coast of South America, and sprang a leak during heavy wither encountered a week after clearing Newcastle. Although she w as makmg a fair amount of water the captau. decided to continue the voyage When about 100 miles off New Zealand however, the schooner aga i n encountered heavy weather, which caused her to further open up, and a courge was set for Auckland. The schooner remained in the stream for several days awaiting instructions from her owners in America who decided to sell the coal in Auckland' Fart of her cargo was discharged into lighters in the stream, the remainder being put out at the Sheerlegs and the Central Wharf. Upon examination it was found that the leak was confined to the rudder trunk, and that the boat was seaworthy Tne schooner then took up an anchorage in the stream, and during the week the captain received instructions to proceed to Sydney to have repairu effected. On this work being carried out the' Cecilia Sudden will leave for Newcastle, where she will load another cargo of coal for Callao.
