LOWER BUTTER PRICES.
DROP OF 70s IN LONDON. DANISH COMPETITION. i A. and N.Z. LONDON. May 6. The* Government has reduced its selling price cf butter by 70s, making New Zealand 1925, Australian 186s, and Argentine 168s. Despite this, the most sensational reduction in the history of the trade, New Zealand and Australian butters are still neglected, as the Danes have lowered their price to 190s. Consumers prefer the fresh-made Danish to the older colonial. STOCKS IN NEW ZEALAND. TOTAL AT END OF REQUISITION. . According to the latest number of the Abstract of Statistics, the total quantity of butter in the grading stores of New Zealand at the end of March was 90,999cwfc.—4550 tons—as against 90,377 boxes at the end of March, 1920. This quantity was not all the property of the Imperial Government, as the return does not distinguish the small quantities of milled, dairy and whey butter, which were not subject to requisition. The creamery butter received in store during the 1920-21 and 1919-20 seasons up to March 31 has been as follows:— 1920-21. 1919-20. _ Cwt. Cwt.
