AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.

WHANGAREI COUNTY LICENSES.'

The committee of the Auckland Auto mobile Association met last evening, Dr. C. B. Rossiter presiding.

In respect to the by-law of the Whingarei County Council which provides that any car driven on roads in its district must be licensed at an annual fee of £1, it was decided to write to the council asking if it was proposed to levy this fee on pleasure cars merely passing through the county. It was also decided to obtain a legal opinion on the matter.

The clerk of the New Lynn Town Board forwarded a resolution passed b\' that body conveying its warmest appreciation of the manner in which the members of the Automobile Association had acted in caring for the people Who were plunged into, the Swanson creek through the bridge collapsing on the day of the motor sports at Murawai. Twelve new members were elected, eight having applied for membership as a resultrof the membership campaign just launched by the secretary. The secretary was congratulated upon the energy he had displayed in this matter. Mr. M. H. Wynyard reported that ho had attended a meeting of motorists at Dargaville, and explained the conditions relating to the establishment of brandies of the association. The meeting had passed a resolution in favour of estab lishing a branch in that centre.
