HIDE AND SKIN SALES.
FURTHER DECLINE IN PRICE.
The Auckland hide and skin sales held yesterday showed a further decline in prices, and very few of the lots catalogued found buyers at the vendors' ' prices. Hides of light quality sold at 2d a lb. lower than tho prices realised at tho last sale. Tho greater number of the lots offered were passed in, the prices for even tho best quality of ox and cow bides showing a decline of from Id to 2d a lb. on tho values previously ruling. For damaged or inferior hides there were no offers. Calf skins realised from 5d to 9Jd a lb., these prices being from Id io 2d lower than the last quotations. At the previous sale light butchers' cow hides sold at 2Jd a lb., but yesterday similar hides were passed' at Id a lb. Heavy butchers' cowhides previously realised 3d a lb., but hides of equal quality yesterday were passed at Lid a lb. For medium ox thcro wero no offers, whereas at the last sale they brought 4Jd a lb. Heavy ox hides yesterday were -passed in at 4d a lb., but similar lots at' tho last sale fetched BJd a lb. Yearling kip 3 showed a drop of from 2d to a lb. on recent rates, the. price offered being 3Jd and 4d a lb. compared with 6d a lb. There was no demand for sheep skins. At the last sales half w'oollv lots realised from 7d to Is each, but yesterday tho auctioneers could cot receive a bid,
