MOUNT EDEN FINANCE.

LAST YEAR'S OPERATIONS.

The financial position of the Borough of Mount Eden was referred to by the Mayor, Mr. J. W. Shackelford, at the meeting of the Borough Council last evening. The position, he said, was satisfactory. The district fund account s?sm deb » fc £1781, while as regards the £10,000 raised for road works payments and commitments amounted to £4928. The •expenditure on road construction during the past year, outside of loan moneys, was £6018, while £10,586 had been expended on drainage loan account, commitments for drainage contracts amounting to £4876. The revenue last year was £32,938, compared with £7506 in 1907. The most important work before the borough was that of drainage, and the expenditure of the loan of £20,000 recently negotiated would leave about £45,000 of the total authorised
