At Eastport P*oad a farewell social was held to bid good-bye to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur WagstafF and Mins Wagstaff, who leave this week for a trip to Europe and Britain ; and also to Mr. J. B. Thomas, who has left the district to reside at I Odorrinsville. Miss Wagstaff wan pre- j seated vdtb a leather writing cabinet by ! the Eastport Road Methodist Church mem bers, as an appreciation of her work as organist. Mr. Thomas was presented with a travelling bag. The Borough Council has decided to inrite returned soldiers to a reunion 011 Anzac Day, as on previous anniversaries. At the annual meeting of the Te Aroha branch of the Plunket Society reports showed that good work Had been done, and interest had increased greatly during the year. Over 260 babies had been ex amifred by the visiting Plunket Nurse during the past nine months. The branch's finances show a email credit balance. The election of officers for the ensuinp year resulted: —President, Mrs. Puckrsdge; vice-presidents, Mesdames McG lash an and McCormick: secretary, Mrs. Reese ; treasurer, Mrs. Hopper; committee, Mesdames Bliss.
