Spencer (Missouri), has filed a report in. the Senate, stating that the | gross cost, of the war to the Allies was i 177,402,269,225 dohars, which will be re- ! duced to 139,702,269,225 dollars after ; ex'sdit for indemnities has been deducted. i Mr. Spencer points out that while Japan | less than one per ■ cent, of the ! amount spent by the United States, she 1 has received Shantung and the Northern Pacific Islands, while the United States has received nothing. He adds: ' 'We misht have expected Britain to extend to • the United States Germany's interests in Samoa or at least to divide them. But this was not done; so it was expected that the islands north of the Equator would be conceded to the United States, but they were to Japan instead." Mr. Spencer concludes that it will be I found that the United States spent 670.0CC.000 dollars more than any other nation in the war.
