OPERA HOUSE.
Tie new programme presented at the afternoon and evening performances at the Opera, Blouse yesterday contains many clever and entertaining turns. One of the most popular artists was Haagen Holenbergh, solo pianist, who gave a capable rendering of a number of pianotorte masterpieces. His technique was excellent, and his sympathetic interpretation of the classical ee-iectiona evoked warm applause- Connors and Paul, who made their first appearance, soon became favourites. Their budget of bright and catchy songs was much, to the liking ot thu audience and th&ir interlude was all too short. The exhibition 01 trick cycling given by Baisden was received with great, applause. lie displayed remarkable skill and ingenuity, controlling ilia machine from almost any • position and at any angle. Huley and Bent submitted an entertaining burlesque which kept the audience in a constant state of mirth. The piece was clever and the many quips provoked "constant outbursts of laughter, though some were in doubtful taste. The new songs and recitations given by the popular artists, Wendy and Alphonse, were warmly app.audcd. Two novelty acrobats. D-esparado and La Rose, who have been absent for some t.me, received a warm welcome. Vaude and Verne were heard in a, new budget of jokes, songs, and patter which created great amusement. Eddie Martyn submitted a series of entertaining dances and characterisations. The Two Fishers were again seen in their graceful crocodile and contortion act. The Rev. Prank Gorman was heard to advantage in several new songs- The programme will be repeated each evening thiß week and at the usual matinees.
