DRIVERS' DISPUTE.
MEN WANT A CONFERENCE.
TELEGRAPH.— KRESS ' ASSOCIATION.] rCHBISTCHUBCH, Wednesday. At a meeting of the Canterbury Drivers* Union, it was resolved to recommeud the drivers' federation to request the Government to ask the respective federations of employers and employees to appoint representatives to sit on a Dominion Council of Conciliation to deal with the dispute, and in the event of an agreement being arrived at, such agreement be filed in each industrial district to be made into an award by the Arbitration Court. A similar course was followed two years ago and proved effective J-iiat m the event of the foregoing not oerag agreed to by the Government and the employers, further meetings be held by the various drivers' unions to consider further action.
