VISITORS ON THE CHATHAM.
— PETTY THIEVING ALLEGED. " Disgusted 6 writes from H.M.S. Chatham :—" I should be greatly obliged if you could-find space to publish this letter, which I am more than sorry to write. As you are aware, our ship is.thrown open to visitors during the week-ends, and various interesting departments get crowded/' in consequence. Unfortunately there are some of the visitors who take advantage of this state of affairs to remove various articles of value belonging to the men. If this kind of thing continues the visitors will be looked upon with distrust, and those who show them round will endeavour to avoid the places where their belongings are stowed It is a pleasure to do anything to make a visitor's tour round the ship interesting, but I regret to say that if this kind of thing continues it will be otherwise. Surely those visitors who are without honour can carry on their peregrinations elsewhere! It is said that ~the difference between gentlemen and thieves is that there is honour among the latter. I sincerely hope this is not true."
