ANNIVERSARY DAY.

THE ANNUAL REGATTA.

ATTRACTIONS FOR TO-MORROW

Anniversary Day will be celebrated in Auckland to-morrow, when a general holiday will be observed.

The principal event of the day will be the anniversary regatta on the Waitemata Harbour. It has been decided to use the Calliope Dock and site instead of a. flagship, as it is considered the public will thus have a better opportunity of witnessing the races for yachts and launches, which will Btart and finish from a scow moored off the dock.

For the yacht and launch races record entries have been received, the prizes having been increased by 25 per cent, all round, which ia almost £100 more than last year's figures. A feature of the regatta will be the race for the open speed championship of New Zealand, for wluch four launches have entered, including the sea sled, which is capable of doing 40 miles an hour. In addition an excellent programme of swimming events will be held in the dock together with a number of side-shows. It is anticipated that tbe entries for the swimming races and eideshows will exceed 100.
