Disappointment was ei»rc£sed at the reply of the Director of Education. Dr. W. J. Anderson, that owing to the inflated cost of buildings, the present was not a- opportune time to convert the Birkenhead side school into a main school. It was-decided to renew the application, and to point out that the Bide school was overcrowded and that whether Birkenhead was to have -a main school should not be dependent upon tho circumstances in an adjoining district, the director having stated that the Northcote main and side schools had ample accomodation at present. The draft constitution of the proposed North Shore Water Supply Board, which is intended to supplant the Lake "Tak&prma Board of Control, was forwarded by the Marine Boroughs Association. It was resolved to disagree with several clauses, and ; to suggest that each borough should have equal representation, the term of office *o be two years, the quorum to be not less than two-thirds of the whole number of members, local bodies to have the right to a wholesale supply and to undertake the reticulation of their respective districts, and the cost of any works for auerumenting the supply of water in Lake Takapuna to be sanctioned by the ratepayers at a poll.
