WATERSIDE WORKERS' PICNIC.
i»i Hie Auckland wateieide workers' annual picnic was held at Motutapu yesterday under favourable weather conditions. There was a record attendance, the picnic ground being crowded with happy holiday-makers. Three ferry boats, which had been secured to convey the public to the island, proved inadequate to cope with the crowd that, set out for the pianic, and an additional steamer had- to be brought into use, besides several motor launches. An excellent programme was provided during the day. A great deal of interest was displayed in the large number of athletic events, including special races for women and children. The Waterside Workers' Band rendered musical items and refreshments were dispensed. The last boat to bring the picnickers home rlid not teach the city until late in tlfe evening. The picnic was generally described as being one of the most successful things of its kind held in Auckland.
