. «o MANUKA AT WELLINGTON, TOTAL OF 420 PASSENGERS. I MAILS ARRIVING TO-DAY. The Union Company's steamer Manuka ■ arrived at Wellington from Sydney at 11.40 a.m. yesterday with 420 passengers ■ and an Australian mail. The Auckland portion of the mail con- i sists of 61 bags, but owing to the late i I arrival o£ the vessel it could not be for I warded by the first express leaving Wei- ! | lington at 12.45 p.m. yesterday. Thirtyeight bags of mail, however, were landed in time to connect with the extra express leaving at 2 p.m. This mail will reach Auckland at 7.50 a.m. to-day, and will be distributed in the city and suburbs by the mid-day delivery. The remainder of the mail was put aboard the regular evening express from Wellington, which is due at Auckland at 2.55 p.m. to-day. The city portion of this mail will be distributed by the three o'clock delivery. The Auckland passengers are travelling by both expresses. A large Australian mail for Auckland is on board the Port Nicholson, which is expected to arrive from Sydney either to-morrow night or Thursday morning. No further news has been received re garding the Maheno and Riverina, which are held up in Sydney owing to the strike. In all probability the Niagara's trip to Vancouver will be cancelled. Nothing definite, however, has vet been decided upon.
