END OF STRIKE IN SIGHT. TRANSPORTERS URGE RETURN EXTENSION OVER HOLIDAYS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copynjht. (Kecei-red Y.SO p.m.) A. acd N.Z. SYDNEY. Dec 25. The Transport Workers' Federation has recommended the marine stewards to return to their ships as soon as possible on the best terms obtainable from the owners, being of opinion that it is inadvisable to prolone the strike while there axe innumerable unemployed in the Commonwealth. A meeting of stewards decided to defer the proposal for resumption of work until after the holidays, the impression being that they are. anxious to spend J Christina ashore. The owners are adamant in their determination not to negotiate with the men, pending a resumption of work.
